Play an awesome new version of the magical puzzle game!

Here it is, hard on the heels of Bejeweled for Windows... the downloadable version of ALCHEMY! Now you can play anytime you like, offline or on!

The object of this mysterious game is to turn the game board from lead to gold by placing magic symbols - "runes" in board's squares. Each rune must be placed to another by shape or color (or both) concordance. If you complete a row or a column of runes they disappear clearing your gaming place and scoring points.

If there is no vacant place for your rune you can simply discard it. If there are a lot of runes on the board each new rune must fit neighboring runes by color or shape. There are also such units as "grey stone" (you can place it anywhere) and a "scull" (it will destroy any unit it is placed on).

Company History

The company was founded in 2000 by John Vechey, Brian Fiete, and Jason Kapalka, who’d earlier learned their trade working for internet game companies like Flipside and pogo.com.

PopCap’s web games soon became extremely popular both on our home site and on partners such as the Microsoft Gaming Zone, Yahoo, RealOne Arcade and Shockwave. The next step was to create the Deluxe downloadable versions, a risky move that paid off with what CNNMoney called the "second coming of shareware."

In 2002, we consolidated our “garage” operations by opening an office in Seattle. Today, we have nearly twenty employees and a host of contractors and development partners. PopCap games can be found on numerous different platforms, from the web to PCs to Macs, to PDAs and cell phones, even mid-flight airline entertainment.

Our flagship game Bejeweled (aka Diamond Mine) won Computer Gaming World’s Puzzle Game of the Year award for 2001, and was named Commercial Game of the Year for Palm platforms by Handheld Computing. More recently, Bookworm has been a runaway hit, garnering a 5 star rating from Computer Gaming World along with hundreds of thousands of fans. There have been over 10 million downloads of our Deluxe games on various portals, and on any given day literally hundreds of thousands of people play the free web versions.
